Hola, Barcelona!

Once upon a time, everything felt brand new. Everywhere feels like an adventure. But once you've been to the same place once, twice, too many times, the excitement just becomes dull after a while.

But the minute I checked my September roster, my eyes grew wider instantly, I couldn't believe that I will be lucky enough to get Barcelona for the month, now that's definitely something different. I was so happy, I love that feeling of not knowing what to expect.

Our stay in Barcelona was longer than the usual long hauls we normally do, because it isn't a daily flight. We had four nights in Barcelona, and that itself made this flight more like a holiday than it is work. Almost everybody's first time to Barcelona so our flight was a really happy one, everybody was all chirpy and excited.

I was so thrilled when I saw our hotel room, it's probably one of the prettiest ones we have! I love how everything was in white, with such a modern, sleek design. It's everything we need to have a good and comfortable rest for the next 4 nights we'll be in Barcelona. And you know how much I love it just by the fact that I had time to snap a few photos even when I'm dead beat by the time we arrived in Barcelona.

It's only the 2nd day that I joined the crew for sightseeing, because I spent the entire day sleeping after touching down. Just didn't have the energy to do anything at all, I just needed to recharge.

We spent the entire day outside, and I almost forgot how it's like to explore a city for the first time. It's been a while since I've been to somewhere new, and this experience in Barcelona felt so brand new. I felt the excitement, that's been missing for a while, again.

This was taken inside the Sagrada Familia- it's beautiful on the outside, and even more spectacular on the inside. No regrets spending 15 euros just to get in, it's truly quite a view.

My set for this trip! Stopping at bars after bars just for beer because my boss is a true blue alcoholic, and also because the beers are so cheap over here. None for me though, because gurl does not drink.

The view from Park Guell.

The pictures probably looked like we've had such a chill, breezy day but it was a hell lot of walking and travelling to get to these places. It left all of us so tired at the end of the day. My favourite part was probably travelling to Bunkers El Carmel to catch the sunset We stayed there for a while, enjoying the view from up there as the sky gives us a spectacular show.

The next day, we continued our sightseeing to the Camp Nou Stadium and Palau De La Musica Catalana. The girls and I didn't join the boys for the stadium tour because we aren't exactly the biggest football fans out there, so we went to get some brunch while waiting for the boys, and we had this amazing paella in the picture below.

It's pretty damn good and we kinda had the whole restaurant to ourselves, so that's nice.

Once the boys are done, we headed over to my personal favourite part of the entire Barcelona trip because I'm such a sucker for cultural art and especially if it's so aesthetically pleasing. So going to this musical hall was so exciting for me! And it's truly the most beautiful musical hall I've ever been to and I doubt anything can ever top this. Look at its vibrant colours, the intricate details. The best thing is that the designs were not just for aesthetics but they were intentionally designed that way in order to bring out the best sounds- which I find absolutely amazing. And this was built many, many years ago and are still actively used now.

It's not just a musical hall, but it's an artistic masterpiece and it's no wonder people all over the world cannot miss the chance to visit this place when they're in Barcelona because it's freaking beautiful.

I did a little bit of research on Pinterest on where to go in Barcelona and saw a couple of pictures of this particular place and I told myself, "I have to go there and take a photo with these colourful pillars" and I'm so happy I get to do exactly that!

We were getting pretty hungry by the time we were done, so our next stop was to La Boqueria, the food market in the heart of Barcelona, very close to the shopping street of La Rambla.

There were so many people and so many options to choose from that I was starting to get a headache so we all left it to my boss to make the decision on where to eat, and of course we were going to have seafood, my favourite.

It's just a must to have seafood here in Barcelona, or especially in La Boqueria because it's all so damn fresh and the prices are so reasonable and they cater to large groups to share as well, which is great for us. The only downside is the lack of space so all six of us were squeezing around a small table which was definitely not big enough to fit all our orders so we had to work our way through the plates as fast as possible to make space for the upcoming ones. Despite that, it was such a satisfying meal and probably the best we've had so far.

Check out the crowd, pretty sure most of them are tourists just like us, trying to get the most out of the food market experience.

They definitely saved the best for the last- our boss did the ordering so we thought that the multiple plates we had before this were all that we've ordered and that was already so awesome, and then THIS came and we were shook. And look at the presentation!!!

YES, look at the amount of plates on the table when this picture was taken. This was taken before the big seafood platter came along! And our server for the day who was super friendly, of course we gave him a great tip afterwards.

And even after all that delicious food, my boss insisted that we MUST have oysters- especially me, because I've never tried a raw one in my life so, yeah, kena force. This was first shop we went for oysters and apparently they remembered us from the day before when my crew came here on the first day (and I was prioritising sleep lol). Did I mention how great Spanish people are? The friendliest ever, honestly.

And then we found THIS gem. The oysters here were of quality and slightly pricier than the ones we had in the previous stall. So worth it!!!! Especially if you're an oyster-lover, you'll love this one, for sure. And for me, who's an absolute newbie to this, really enjoyed this one more than I did the first time.

Now will you look at THAT.

The last clear day in Barcelona was spent at the beach with the whole gang once again. It's the first time I felt so tired just by all the sightseeing, it's pretty amazing how much energy everybody in the set had. We stuck together for the whole trip, and made the most out of our time here.

I even had time to get a manicure before the heading to the beach because my gel nails were broken during the flight and I desperately needed to fix that before the flight back. And I remembered absolutely loving my nails after that I couldn't stop staring at them! Again, the people here are the friendliest and even with the language barrier, somehow we still managed to have a conversation and laughed together, it was great.

I loved this trip, it felt more like a holiday than work, to be honest. We had so many nights here that I already made a home in my hotel room, but all good things must come to an end and we've got to make room for something better. And I've never been so glad to be home after so long.

No matter how far I go in this world, there's no place quite like home. Barcelona was lovely, but being back into the arms of my loved ones felt like instant happiness.

See you again soon, Barcelona.

Love,
Ashhy
