Seoul ✈ Vegas

Hi guys! I know that I've been neglecting this space for a while now, and even with the monthly updates, it still feels like the last time I updated was a lifetime ago. Nonetheless, it's so nice to be back here again and of course, an update always means that I have pictures to share and I'm so excited to be sharing with everyone about my trip to Las Vegas for the first time ever, and back to Seoul again!

It's no secret how much I love long sectors. It's always flights like these that make me feel so alive. And I needed that, badly. I needed to feel that adrenaline rush, the anticipation- I've kinda forgotten how that felt like. I guess it applies to many things in life- the first time is always the most memorable. And this is the story of my first SQ8, the first and probably (definitely) the last time I'll ever do this flight because they're going to take it away sometime in late November so I knew it was now or never.

Funny story, I wasn't even rostered for this flight.

In fact, I had to fork out some money to top up the difference in order to change for this flight. It was a win-win though, the girl needed my off days and I readily wanted to get rid of my flights for a better one. I know this probably is pretty confusing to some of you, you must be thinking like, "why is money even involved in changing flights?"

Basically, long sector flights are the true money-makers and to close a flight-change deal, you have to make your offer attractive enough for the other party. That's what I had to do in order to get this flight- so I knew I had to make it a good one.

And my, my, this trip was truly everything that I needed it to be- and so much more.

After arriving in Seoul, we met up for dinner at Kkanbu Chicken after resting a little after the flight. This was there the talks bout Vegas started as we were planning on what to do when we arrive in Los Angeles.

I honestly didn't expect for us to ever end up in Vegas when we arrived in Los Angeles. I was honestly halfway towards choosing sleep over everything else, but I guess this is also one of those times that I tell myself that if I don't say yes to an adventure like this, I may not get another shot at this on another flight. It really isn't every day that you meet a group of people who would be up for something like this- especially after operating a hell of tiring flight.

So right in the lobby of the hotel, we sat down in a circle and started booking our flight tickets and accommodation for the night in Las Vegas. Just like that, the trip became a reality.

At this point, I'm still kinda in shock that we're actually doing what we're doing. I mean, impromptu plans are great and all but when you've only got a 45 mins sleep after operating an 11-hour flight and then you're on your way for a whole adventure in a place called Las Vegas (where you probably could forget about sleeping), you'd know what I mean. This was that one time I had all kinds of caffeinated drinks in one night- coffee, coke, even red bull, you name it.

The view right outside our hotel, as we make our way to Gordon Ramsay's Hell Kitchen for dinner.

 Appetiser - Pan-seared scallops
Main course - Beef Wellington (Can I just say, this was freakin' amazing?!)
Dessert - Toffee pudding cake with Speculoos ice-cream

The view of Vegas at night.

Me taking this picture, wondering how does one get addicted to things like these.

Caesar's Palace - I actually really like how the different hotels have very unique themes.
Again, wondering how does one find these entertaining.
I remember it being pretty late at night but the city was still so alive.

We had one night in Vegas. To be honest, we were all pretty stoned because we didn't get a good rest after touching down in Los Angeles. But since we're in Vegas, we decided to forget how tired we all really were and spent the whole night out. The pictures below were taken in the wee hours of the morning where we decided to lose all our inhibitions and got on a limo ride to a strip club.

"Why even?", you may ask. I probably will never have a better answer for that besides- it's Vegas. And of course there won't be any pictures of what happens after the limo ride because "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas".

Picture is as blurry as our discretion that night.
Love these ladies though, my roommates for the night. We probably are the only people in the world who would have a heart to heart talk about boys right in the middle of a strip club.

We got back to the hotel at about 5 in the morning, when the sun is almost up. We barely slept (again!) and woke up at about 7-ish in the morning to continue our day in Vegas. The city is so different in the day than it is at night, either way I think Vegas is a place where you'll always have something to see, something that gets your excited. Definitely a touristy place, but somehow I have to say that the people here are really friendly and all-around nice.

We rushed to the Las Vegas sign 30 minutes before we had to rush back to the airport for our flight back to Los Angeles. It's crazy, but SO glad we made it here.

After getting back to Los Angeles, time slowed down a little. I've never been so relieved to be back because I needed that alone time to recuperate. I think I slept a good 11-hours before waking up just in time to check out for our flight back to Seoul. Vegas was great nonetheless, if I had a chance to do it again, I think I wouldn't change a thing.

And then we're back in Seoul! I've been waiting and waiting for another Seoul flight because I'm a big fan of Korean sheet masks and it's obviously the cheapest right where it came from. So I was really excited to spend the whole day shopping in Myeongdong, which was my initial plan. Until I had an unexpected date with an old friend from school, Nadia!

The funny thing is, Nadia and I were more of acquaintances than friends back in school. Sure, we had a few short conversations here and there and we follow each other on social media and stuff, but I've never really gotten a chance to get to know her as a person. However, somehow, when she replied to my ig story knowing that I'm in Seoul, I asked her if she's free to meet! A part of me was ready to be rejected because she might feel a little awkward, but surprisingly, Nadia was more than open to that idea!

We had lunch together, and what was supposed to be a quick lunch date turned out to be a whole afternoon out together with her.  And it's amazing just how well we clicked even though this was probably the first time we had a meal together! Honestly, meeting her was the highlight of my trip to Seoul. She was kind enough to show me around and bring me to all the places that I wanted to see like the Stylenanda Pink Pool cafe and she also patiently followed me when I had to do a bit of shopping for skincare. It's amazing how well we hit it off, and I couldn't stop telling her how happy she made me.

Being in a foreign place with a familiar face, makes the whole experience much more memorable. I feel like this trip wouldn't be as great a trip for me if it wasn't for the meet-up I had with her. It makes me feel so thankful that God gave me a chance to meet a kind soul like Nadia again, and forging a new friendship in such an unexpected place.

Surrounded by an overload of pink and pastels in the Stylenanda Pink Pool cafe.

I'm kinda glad I packed this in my luggage because the combination of this outfit and the whole pink vibe of this cafe totally works.
And don't mind the photo vomit right after this picture.

This picture perfectly summed up how I feel about the entire trip.

Mischief (definitely was not) managed.

I've kept this post in my drafts for the longest time because I just hadn't had the motivation to get in front of my laptop and write like I used to. I've been dealing with some things on my own, and writing just wasn't at the top of my priority list for a while. To be honest, this was the last trip that was anything close to "happening" for me because I have been staying in most times wherever I go. Call me boring, but I actually really enjoy having my alone time when I'm overseas and getting to recuperate as much as I can.

Thing is, after a while, I find myself feeling like I want to save some of the excitement of travelling and share it with Luke. I can't wait for us to start a life together, where I can bring him to all my favourite places easily and sharing those memories not with strangers, but with him. All these travelling may be fun, but it lacks meaning when you're missing that special someone. I find myself thinking, "Man, I wish Luke was here to see this with me" quite a lot, even more so now lately than ever. It won't be long before that chapter of our lives come though, and counting down the days to forever with Luke make the wait even more worthwhile. So till then, I'm going to save all the fun things I've always wanted to do until the time is right, when I'm doing it with the one I love. That way, everything would be more meaningful.

Till the next post.

Love,
