Like a dream

I honestly didn't expect myself to love MalΓ© as much as I did.

Everything about it was like a dream, it's like I'm waking up to paradise. I knew I was excited for this station, but I really didn't expect it to be one of my favourite stations ever considering how short the stay was- but I fell hopelessly in love with this place.

We touched down late at night, first time ever it wasn't a coach that was waiting to escort us to our hotel. This time is was a boat. How typical of Maldives right? With its tropical feels right from the minute we touched down, haha. It really is what it is- an island where one could get away, relax, and take a break from the busy city life.

I survived on only 4 hours of sleep and forced myself to wake up at 5.30am to catch the sunrise- the outrageous things I'd do just to not waste the day away knowing that I won't be get another Male flight soon.

To be honest, I think it's the first time I've ever seen a sunrise. We stayed from dawn till the sun came up, and we had the best view ever from where we were. I remember thinking how nothing could beat this, the day has just started and it was already so perfect.

But it got better.

We went snorkelling after that, and I almost didn't want to do it. I've always lacked water confidence, I think I have a little fear of drowning- I even took swimming lessons from my girl, Fi, before I started training to build my water confidence knowing that I will have to know how to swim as a stewardess as part of safety training.

So I kinda went from zero to hero in Male.

I think travelling brings out that daredevil in me- knowing that every trip is an opportunity for me to test my limits and a chance to seize the day. Life is a gift and I don't intend on wasting it. Hence, I'd do anything within my means to live it to the fullest. That's my motivation.

We spent 3 hours snorkelling, and it's amazing because it didn't feel that long at all when we were inside. So intrigued by all the beauty underwater. The best part for me was when we were at the drop down, where there was a sudden drop in temperature suggesting how deep the water was. I cannot get over the excitement I felt when we were there- the feeling of conquering your fear and going further felt so good. And everything about the view was worth swimming hours for.

Although the stay was so short, I definitely had the best time in Male. Surviving on so little sleep and getting all those cuts and bruises from snorkelling were all so worth it. First times are always the best, and my first Male flight was in all ways lovely.

It felt like paradise on Earth. And I can't wait to be back.

Love,
Ashhy
