Ami: Helluuuu princess
Me: Helluuu!!! Hehehehe
Ami: Wanna ask you out for an adventure date tomorrow pls say yes
And we did! Of course. And I feel blessed enough to be the first person she thought of to do this with her. I've never done any trekking independently before, the last time I did was probably during one of the school camps in secondary school. Or in poly? I don't even remember. I just know that it was a very long time ago and we always had an experienced trekker to lead us. This time, we're only relying on ourselves and Google map.
After a good one hour of trekking 4.9km uphill, we finally reached our destination! The view was breathtaking. Truthfully, I didn't have much expectations for it 'cos my main intention that day was to spend quality time with Ami so no matter how great or bad the trekking session was, I would be happy nonetheless. But really, to me, the Tree Top Walk was worth the uphill ride. It was pretty tiring, we were perspiring so much but it was so much fun to be surrounded by nothing but nature that morning. It was the greatest feeling. Then of course we spent some time enjoying the whole scenery and snapping loads of pictures for memories - we're girls, that's what we do best.
Once it was time to go back, Ami and I decided to change our route. We followed the path to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve instead of going back to MacRitchie. According to the sign board, it says that the route was about 6km but we kinda got lost and so we trekked for about 8-10km back to the main road. Of course we didn't reach our destination, but we got out of the whole forested area safely. I'm surprised at how calm we were throughout the whole journey. Even though we were obviously no longer on the right track, we still stayed cool and walked anyway. Ami had her Google map with her the whole time and I trusted her wholeheartedly. I just knew that no matter how long it'd take, we'll still be able to get out somehow.
We decided to find a place to have lunch after that so we walked to the destination. It started pouring halfway and I didn't know what I was thinking and asked Ami if she wanted to play in the rain and she was like okay and so we just completely let go and got ourselves soaking wet but at that moment, I swear it felt like the best thing to do. How often can you play in the rain right? And I loved it!
We also made some friends along the way as they were lost too, and ended up having lunch together. I can't really describe how happy I was that day because although things did not quite go as planned, I felt really carefree. So carefree. Having Ami by my side made it even better, I love her so much, she's truly one of God's biggest blessings in my life. So glad we did this together. I honestly felt that the day went better than I could ever imagine.
Really, how often can you say that you spent three hours of your morning trekking for more than 10km in the middle of a forest, got lost and you didn't panic, instead you played in the rain and made new friends along the way?
Quite rarely, I would say.
It was a little late, but I'm glad I wrote this post. It already made my night just reminiscing that day. I miss Ami, so I hope she'll read this someday and smile. I love you ami! Thanks for randomly asking me out on an adventure date with you. I will never forget it :)
