So lately, I've been into knitting. I know it's such a "grandma" skill, but for some reason, it really interests me. Besides knitting, I've been wanting to sew, but unfortunately a sewing machine is just too expensive so I have to keep that interest on hold. So I decided to look up knitting tutorials online and they're so, so helpful. I'd get strangely addicted to watching them even though they're all more than 10 minutes long. I felt like I could totally do it, y'know? Like how difficult can it get?
That was when I decided to get myself some yarn and knitting needles to get started. Boy, was I wrong about knitting. It was tough was hell!
I'd totally show off the technical terms I've learnt but it would be alien language to those of you who wouldn't understand so I'll save y'all the headache. Basically, following the step-by-step instructions was easy but what makes it difficult is that each time I make an error, there I go all the way to the start again. And that's so frustrating! And what's worse is that the number of stitches keep increasing as I go and that's not good 'cos that means my work would be in a very odd shape. So yeah, I've restarted probably more than ten times over the course of two days. Still learning, but I'm pretty sure I'll get the hang of it soon. Besides, if I don't make these mistakes, how will I learn to make them right? Plus this skill really tests my patience and I guess I could apply that in real life too whenever I face with really difficult people.
Picking up a new skill is such a refreshing feeling. The last time I was strangely addicted to something was when I started making floral crowns. Now it's knitting. Let's hope I'll achieve something pretty out of this new skill after all the mistakes I've made, and that I'll be able to say "Hey, now I know how to knit too!"
Let's all....
